In the interests of keeping Topsham looking beautiful, The Topsham Society are organising this year's Topsham in Bloom contest.  There will be five entry categories: Residential Front Gardens, Residential Containers (Window Boxes, Hanging Baskets etc), Shops, Non-Residential (Pubs, Clubs etc) and Community Group Displays.   Judging will take place at the end of July, and Cups and Certificates will be presented to the winners in August.  Entry forms will be available from local shops soon, so start planning your display now!

In last month’s News item, I said that, this month, I would give details of The Topsham Society’s annual summer outing, which was to be to Owlpen Manor in the Cotswolds.  Unfortunately we have had to postpone the outing this year.  We now plan to arrange a trip to Owlpen on 29 September. Look out for more details.

The Topsham Society’s Annual General Meeting will be held in the Globe Malthouse at 8 p.m. on Wednesday 3 June.  There will be a short business meeting followed by a break for refreshments.  Katharine Metcalfe, who is the Conservation Officer at Exeter City Council, will then talk to us about the progress of the Topsham Conservation Area Appraisal.  The AGM is for members of the Society, but you are very welcome to come along and join on the night.  Our subscription remains at £2 per annum or £3 for two people living at the same address.
