May 2010 The Topsham Society’s summer outing this year is on Wednesday 2nd June to Mapperton House and Gardens, near Bearminster in Dorset. The coach will leave Holman Way car park at 9 a.m. There will be a coffee stop on the way at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s “Canteen” in Axminster. Mapperton has been voted “The nation’s finest manor house” and “one of the top ten gardens in Britain”. The cost of travel and entry to the house and gardens is £18.50. Members of the Topsham Society should have received a booking form, which should be returned to Jane Coleman or David Woods by 10th May. Non-members interested in joining the trip should contact Jane, for a booking form, on 876456. The coach should be back in Topsham by 6-6.30 p.m. The Topsham Society’s 46th Annual General Meeting will be held in the Malthouse at the Globe Hotel at 8.00 p.m. on Thursday 10th June. Following the formal meeting, the Enhancing Topsham Award for 2009 will be presented and there will then be an interval with refreshments. This will be followed by a talk from Jenny Lockett of the Exe Estuary Management Partnership. Full details will be in the Society’s Spring Newsletter to members. If you are not a member of The Topsham Society but would like to come you can join on the night. Membership is £2 per person or £3 for two people living at the same address.
